Autoevaluación: Mi Año en Español 103
Have you learned more than you had expected in this course?
I do believe that I learned more than expected coming into this course. I knew it would be fast paced, but did not expect the sheer volume of information, vocab, and grammar we would be able to truly learn and grow to understand in a just one semester.
Did you prepare effectively for class (completed the Connect assignments, read the lesson contents before class, go to office hours)?
I came to class prepared for the most part. The drama of Sol y Viento was always too good to miss and assignments were never too demanding.
How did you find the exams (e.g. challenging, interesting, fair, etc.)?
I found the exams challenging but not too much so- I think the biggest problem I faced was almost always the timecrunch. Grading wasn’t unfair but I do wish it could have been a little more lenient.
How did you find the compositions (e.g. challenging, useful, relevant, etc.)?
I thought the compositions were difficult but actually pretty fun exercises- I enjoyed making the stories, and I had never had to write something nearly that long in Spanish before, so focusing on expressing long, continued plots in Spanish was interesting to me.
Did the “connect” assignments really help you?
For me, the acción assignments were pretty helpful. The tareas I felt were less useful but could be used well as a review in the days leading up to the exam.
Based on your performance throughout the semester and on everything that you have experienced in this course (e.g. in-class activities, homework, etc.), how much has your Spanish improved? How could you have improved more (think about what you could have done to do better)?
Although there were times where I wish my performance could have been better, I definitely think my Spanish has improved a ton over this semester. I think just making sure to keep practicing material from earlier in the semester (felt like I was forgetting some things by the end of the ear and had to go back and relook at them) would help me improve more, but all in all think I really learned a lot.
